September 10th, Leave Bryce, drive across Nevada

Today we left Bryce, drove back through Red Canyon National Park via Hwy 12 west, then took what might be called the Scenic Route through Nevada. We took, from Bryce, 12W, 89S, 14W, XXX. Hwy 395 in Nevada is known as the Extraterrestrial Highway, and passes through the Area 51 Research & Information Center, next to the town of Rachael. We drove all the way to California, stopping at a campsite in the Inyo National Forest just south of the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.

Lunch was at The Brandin Iron in Caliente, NV. The food was really really good, but the apple pie was amazing. Seriously -- just the right amount of thickening for the filling, large chunks of juicy apples, and a crust to pray for. Yummmm...
